Meet Michael Wiley
Candidate for School Board
I’m originally from South Zanesville.
I am a graduate of the Maysville Local School District, where my mom taught for over 30 years.
I met my wife Denise in 1997; we were married in 1999 and moved to Newark.
My wife Denise is teacher and a bowling coach at Newark High School.
In 2006, I also became a coach for the Newark High School bowling team. I have also been a member of the United States Bowling Congress since 2012.
I have worked as a cookie sales representative for Nabisco for the last 23 years. A job that takes me to many stores and communities in and around Licking County. A large part of my job involves communicating with a lot of different people, to achieve a common goal, and to make sure everyone is pulling in the same direction. I’m used to working hard and putting in a full day’s work.
My father used to say,
“Surround yourself with intelligent people, listen, and you’ll make better decisions.”
Autumn is my favorite season. The warm sunny days, the crisp cool evenings, and football! I’m a Steelers fan and my wife is a Browns fan; so Sundays are very entertaining at our house.
I enjoy working with my hands and working in my yard. The perfect evening would be spending time with my family, my dogs, and good friends around a campfire. If I can’t be found working in my yard, my other pastimes include: riding my four wheeler, playing a game of Frisbee golf, bowling, and taking trips to the Amish country.
When I’m not enjoying the outdoors, I like to watch home improvement and automotive shows.
